Brunswick FFA Floriculture Practice Exam

The conducive temperature range for cut flowers is 34-44 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature range is ideal for preserving the freshness and longevity of cut flowers. At these cooler temperatures, metabolic processes in the flowers slow down, which helps to reduce water loss and delay wilting.

Cut flowers are sensitive to heat, which can accelerate their degradation. Perfecting the storage conditions for cut flowers is essential for maintaining high quality, as lower temperatures slow down respiration and help retain moisture. Flowers that are kept within this specific temperature range are likely to sustain their vibrancy and bloom for a longer period, making this knowledge crucial for florists and anyone handling cut flowers.

While the other temperature ranges are either too warm or too cold for the majority of common cut flowers, which may lead to premature aging or damage, the 34-44 degrees Fahrenheit range provides an optimal environment for their preservation.
